Why go: an intimate St Martin’s blessing of young 2026 wines in Vajnory — mass, cellar tasting and local growers without a big festival crowd.

Vajnory has revived the tradition of blessing young wine around St Martin’s Day. The programme starts at 10:00 with a mass for local winegrowers at the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows.

Around 11:00 guests move to the cellar under Bakchus Vila for the blessing itself. It is not a competition — the point is to meet, give thanks for the harvest and taste what the 2026 vintage brought.

Growers from Vajnory and anyone farming vines in the local cadastre are welcome, as are friends of Vajnory viticulture. Expect young wines, light refreshments and conversations with the people who tend the hillsides.

A calm St Martin’s tip if you want the season in a Bratislava city district where vineyards still mean neighbours, generations and shared customs.
